Year 6 into Year 7 Transition
We are delighted that you have been offered a place at Northampton School, and we look forward to welcoming you in the forthcoming weeks.
At Northampton school we understand the transition from Primary to Secondary school is a huge event for both the student and their parents/carers. We are committed to making this process as smooth as possible and make great efforts to allow students to become familiar with the school ahead of their start date in September.
Members of our transition team will meet students and their primary school teachers during the summer term to help prepare them for their move to Northampton School. They will explain what it is like to be a pupil here, the expectations and requirements. They will also collect information from your child’s primary school about your child’s progress and attainment. Students that may require additional support whilst attending Northampton School will be invited to spend the day with the Inclusion Team to build their confidence and aid their transition.
Northampton School also invites primary school students in for a transition day on 7th July. This gives them extra time to make new friendships and build relationships with staff before they start in September. More information on this will follow nearer the time.
We will start the academic year with one day solely for Year 7 so that their first day is not too overwhelming. We look forward to welcoming our new Year 7 students on 3rd September 2025 and sharing their Secondary School adventure with them.
In October we will invite families to our Meet the Form Tutor Parents evening. This event is an opportunity to meet your child’s form tutor, share information and ask questions. Further information will follow on this nearer the time.
Below you will also find links to videos from students, a tour of the school, some links to helpful resources and information and some frequently asked questions to help support you and your child with the transition to Northampton School.
