The School
Northampton School is a co-educational, 11-16, state funded secondary Free School which is located to the north-east of Northampton town. It is part of The NSB Trust and opened in September 2023.
The NSB Trust has an illustrious performance record over the years with sustained academic and extracurricular successes, with Northampton School for Boys being founded in 1541 by Thomas Chipsey in Bridge Street, before moving to its present site in 1911.
Northampton School seeks to mirror the ethos and curriculum of Northampton School for Boys (NSB) as it firmly believes that this educational approach will have similarly outstanding success in a co-educational school. NSB has an outstanding track record of academic success over many years, consistently achieving GCSE results which are well above the national average for progress and attainment and similarly exceptional results at A Level. NSB also enjoys exceptional levels of national achievement and recognition for its extracurricular programme, especially in sports, music, dance and drama.
Due to the close links between the two schools, when Northampton School students reach the end of Year 11 and if they successfully pass their GCSE exams, gaining both the minimum entry requirements and subject specific entry requirements, they will be able to gain an automatic place in the Northampton School for Boys Sixth Form.
